Psalm 19:1  “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”

Psalm 19 reminds us that God has revealed Himself through His world. Take the sun, for instance.  The sun is amazing in its consistency, predictability, and power.  Have you ever considered that you and I are warmed by the same sun that everyone who has ever lived was warmed by? The same sun that warmed a pharaoh, monarch, or president warms us!  On top of that, the sun has an amazing record of rising and setting every day.  You don’t have to wonder or worry if the sun will rise or set today.  The great power and heat of the sun are perfectly arranged for life on this earth.  You may not like the weather, but winter will soon turn to spring and summer will soon turn to fall.  The universe is amazing, and God made it all!

Psalm 19 also reminds us that God has revealed Himself through His Word. His Word is perfect, sure, right, pure, clean, true, and righteous altogether. Everything God has for you, He has revealed in His Word.  His words are more valuable to you today than any amount of money, and they are sweeter than anything you can conceive in your mind.  Verse 11 tells us that “by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.” You can’t do any better than the very words of the God who made the world!

Finally, Psalm 19 reminds us that God reveals us through His Word. You know yourself better than anyone else, yet the Bible asks, “Who can understand his [your] errors?” Well, the Bible indicates that the Bible indicates what your secret faults are!  Contrary to the popular saying, it is not better to ask for forgiveness than to ask permission! There is no need to live in ignorance; the Bible helps us know what is right. If you will take care of the sins you know, God can reveal the ones you don’t know.  The fact of the matter is, when God reveals Himself in His Word, He also reveals me for who I really am.

The world in which we live is absolutely amazing.  “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” God not only created the world, but He also gave us His Word. God has revealed Himself in both His world and His Word; He has also revealed the true you in His Word.  Where does that leave you this morning?  Are there secret or presumptuous sins that need to be confessed?  Is your life aligned with the God Who has revealed Himself?
