Isaiah 27:5 “Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.”

God wants His people to be fruitful. That was true of Israel in Isaiah 27, and it is true for us today. God’s character has not changed toward those He possesses. He provides in order for you to be fruitful; He doesn’t provide just for His provision to end with you. Whatever God has given you, including your mind, talents, money, and time, He has given for a purpose.

We usually do not think about God’s provision of protection until it is absent. When you have difficult times in life, it is not because God hates you. In fact, difficult times come precisely because He loves you and is interested in what is best for you. Everything God does is toward the end of our fruitfulness.

When it comes to your life, you will possess God’s peace when you take hold of His strength. What are you holding on to this morning? Often we look to what we can hold in our hands to give us strength. We might say, “If I just had more (blank). . . then I would. . . .” Or perhaps we think, “If (blank) were different, then I would have peace.” You can spend your entire day trying to build strength and security in your life, but you will have no peace. Peace doesn’t come through your strength; peace comes through God’s strength.

Christ is our peace (Ephesians 2:14), and when we take hold of Him, we can have His strength and peace. No matter what God is doing in your life, He desires that you be fruitful. Don’t search for peace in all the wrong places; take hold of the One who is peace!
