Zechariah 10:1 “Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain, so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.”

In Due Season

Do you remember one thing you prayed for last fall? Whatever you prayed for, you either kept asking, stopped asking, or asked someone else. You may have kept asking because some needs are continual like rain, wisdom, finances, and health. You may have stopped asking because you no longer had a need, you didn’t remember your need, or you no longer cared. You may have asked someone else because you still cared but no longer believed that God could or would answer.

Everything you need is supplied from Heaven and in due season. That is why the Bible encourages us that “in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (Galatians 6:9) The children of Israel had languished in building the temple after twelve long years. In response, God said, “Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain, so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.”

I remember asking God for rain here on the Ranch because we desperately needed it. I remember God answering that request with several inches of soaking rain! Just because we asked God for rain in October does not mean that we cannot or should not ask for rain in the spring or summer. You should not expect to pray one time and be set for life. Remember, every blessing comes in due season.

You may have needs that you have asked God for before, but if they are needs now, “ask ye of the LORD.” Don’t try to live today on God’s provision from last fall! Perhaps you may be tempted to stop asking or to ask someone else, but “ask ye of the LORD.” Remember that every blessing comes from God in due season. Just like the former rain that is past and the latter rain that we need right now, “ask ye of the LORD”—and keep asking the Lord—for what you need!
