Matthew 8:26 “And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.”

Never Hurried, Never Worried

Can you think of a story in the Bible when the Lord was in a hurry or was worried? I couldn’t think of a single one! I am always amazed at how utterly calm the Lord Jesus was in The Gospels. He is always in control!

How about you? Are you always in control? Are you ever hurried or worried? There is no excuse for laziness, but too often we are hurried and worried in our hearts and minds. You will never find the Lord Jesus to be worried or hurried! The disciples were flailing in a sinking boat while battling a storm, but the Lord Jesus was asleep. Can you imagine that? The disciples were full of fear and void of faith, but the Lord Jesus “rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.”

Many people today try to control their day by controlling themselves and their minds, but true calmness can only come with true control. Calm is a function of control. The reason the Lord Jesus was calm and gave calmness to the disciples was because He was in control.

When you have the Lord with you, you need not be fearful, faithless, and tossed back and forth in the storms of life. Don’t try to live today in a sinking ship that is tossed around by the storms of life. Live life based on God’s character, not your ability. The Lord is never hurried and never worried, and neither should you be!
