Revelation 5:12 “Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.”

Are You Worthy?

When you come to Revelation chapter five, one word or theme repeatedly echoes off the pages of Scripture. You can’t miss the word worthy in this chapter! Another closely-related word is worship. God is worthy, and He should receive worship. Someone is worthy when they have worth (value).

God is worthy, not because of what He does, but because of Who He is. That is opposite of how we normally view ourselves. We think we are worthy because of what we do. Think about all the people we hold in high esteem and to whom we assign worth. We ought to worship the One Who is worthy.

So, what can we take away from all of this? Verse 10 says, “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Does that mean we are big stuff? Well, No! You will never find your worth in life until you assign worth to the One Who gives you life. Christ is the One who is worthy! God made us; He redeemed us; and because of that, we are something prized in Him.

I am worth something because God is worthy of everything. Don’t go through life trying to gain value by what you do. The more value you place on God, the more worthy of a life you will live. We have a Savior Who is worthy and should be worshipped. We are worth something when He is worth everything!
