Leviticus 26:13 “I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.”

A Terrible Trade

How much would you pay for the love of the person closest to you? That is preposterous! You can’t get much lower than putting a price (or taking a price) for someone’s love.

What if you had to choose between two job openings where one employer loved you and the other one hated you? Would you not choose the person who had an interest in you and loved you?

When it comes to our relationship to God, so many times we feel like we’ve had so many regulations put upon us. Yet God loves us and wants what is best for us, while Satan hates us and wants to destroy us. When you resent living for God, you are trading love for hatred and freedom for bondage.

You show contempt for the Master Who loves you when love a master who hates you. That is the choice face today. The Devil will never say, “I hate you. God loves you. Take what I have right now, but you’ll regret it later.” No sir! Your own heart is “deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked” (Jeremiah 17:9) and will lead you astray. The Devil and your heart will never reveal that you are trading freedom for bondage.

God made you. He loves you. He gives commandments to protect you, not harm you. Don’t exchange the freedom and love you have in Christ for the tyranny of a master who hates you.
