Joshua 11:15 “As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.”

Are You Under Authority?

The authority you need in life is found in submission to God. A submissive servant has more power than a king acting in rebellion. We are living in a day when our quest for the top has become a race to the bottom. Everyone wants to have a position that gives them more authority. The problem is, we too often forget that we are all under submission.

The key is not being more assertive, bossing more people, or delegating; the key is submission. The more authority you are under, the more weight you carry. You may be a “featherweight,” but the more authority to which you are submissive, the more of a “heavyweight” you become! On the other hand, the more you try to make yourself a “heavyweight” and reject others’ authority, the more of a “featherweight” you really are.

In Joshua 11, we see a servant, Joshua, acting under orders from Moses, who was God’s servant. Joshua’s submission to authority provided direction and answers for decisions. There is only one Authority in the world, and that is God. He delegates His authority to people, and it is best received with a tender heart and open mind. The more authority you are under, the more weight you carry.

“As the LORD commanded Moses, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua. . . .”
