Increasingly, we live in a hostile and lonely world. Because of technology people have more access to others than they have ever had before. Yet, people seem more alone, more marginalized than ever before. You see subway cars, buses, and buildings full of people caught up in their own individual worlds with their eyes on their phones, their ears plugged with an iPod or some other thing. It seems like we are increasingly lonely people. Well, if you are serving God, you are not alone. You need to remember that.

In II Corinthians 6:1 Paul says, “We then as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.” So, we are workers together with the Lord. Paul says, “I beseech you.” For whom does he beseech these people? If you look at II Corinthians 5:20 he says, “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” So God is working through us, and God is working with us. We are working for Him. In II Corinthians 6:4 it says, “But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God.” So, we serve “for Christ,” “with him,” “of God,” and “by the Holy Ghost.” In every way, when we serve God, we are not alone.

The Bible tells us later in the chapter that we are not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. The counter to that is that we are yoked together with the Lord Jesus.  In Matthew 11:30 it says “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” What a wonderful truth that when you serve God you never serve alone.
