Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Do What You Know

What are you worried about today? Some people worry about things they don’t know, which is fear of the future. Other people worry about what it is they do know; they fear that something bad will happen. The truth is that if we will simply trust God with what we know, we don’t need to worry about what we don’t know.

Some people are more concerned about what it is they do not know than they are about taking action about what they do know about God. I certainly don’t know everything about our infinite God, but I do know something about Him. My focus ought to be on obeying what I know to be right and leaving the rest to God.

In Deuteronomy 29, Moses is recounting the covenant that God had made with Israel, and he says in verse 29, “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God.” Now if the hidden things belong to God, then they are not my stewardship. I don’t have to worry about them. The verse continues, “But those things which are revealed belong unto us and unto our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” God had revealed exactly what it was He wanted Israel to do by the words He had given to them.

In Deuteronomy 30:11 Moses says, “For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off…” Verse 14 says “The word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.”

Don’t fret about that which God has not revealed. Take action on what God has revealed to you. God will let you know everything you need to know to do exactly what He wants you to do today. You may not know about tomorrow, and you may not be clear on everything about today. But, if you will obey God in those matters which He has revealed to you, then you can be confident that He will give you more light in the days ahead.
