Proverbs 21:30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

God Will Win

The last two verses of Proverbs 21 are great verses to look at first thing in the morning. Proverbs 21:20 says, “There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.” How is that true? While there is earthly wisdom, understanding, and counsel that people employ against their Creator, none of it will stand. God will win.

Because that is true, the next verse says, “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.” In other words, we make our preparations, but God is the One Who gives victory. We do our part, but God is the One Who must do His if anything of any value is to be accomplished. Do what you should and trust God to do what you can’t.

Some people have a hard time realizing that both of these things are important. They give all their energies to something, but they trust themselves. Or, they think they are trusting in God, but they are just being passive and doing nothing. When I do what I should, God will do what I can’t. God expects me to do my part.

Now, I am not to balance faith and preparation; they are to be in harmony. It is not as if I am to give fifty percent effort and fifty percent dependence upon God. It is one hundred percent of both. You don’t balance blood and oxygen; you harmonize them. So serving God with all your strength does not mean trusting him with half of your heart. The opposite is equally true. Trusting God with all your heart does not mean serving Him with half of your strength.

Today, realize that there is no wisdom or counsel that is going to stand against God. God will win. So we do our part. “The horse is prepared against the day of battle, but safety is of the LORD.” Do what you should; trust God to do what you can’t, and He certainly will.
