Genesis 24:27 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master’s brethren.

Have you ever started a project that you never finished? In many ways it is so much easier to start something than it is to keep it going and bring it through to completion. A lot of us have some great New Year’s resolution or some project that we begin that never reaches completion.
I am so glad to tell you that God will finish whatever it is that He starts. This whole story in Genesis seems to be the story of how a family was tested. The marriages were tested, the children were tested, and the parents were tested. All this testing was because the promise that God had given to Abraham was about a Son that God Himself would send through Abraham’s family in the course of time. So, when Abraham told his servant to go find a wife for his son Isaac, it was important because Isaac was the son of promise through whom the Son of God would eventually come.
When the servant of Abraham found this girl, Rebekah, he marveled. In verse 27 he said, “Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master’s brethren.”
What was he saying when he said, “God is not going to leave my master destitute”? He was saying that God had called Abraham to a land Abraham didn’t even know, yet Abraham went and trusted God. God made Abraham a promise he couldn’t comprehend. God was going to increase Abraham’s family beyond Abraham’s imagination. This family would be a blessing to the entire world. God certainly wasn’t going to forsake Abraham now! Why would God make Abraham an incredible promise and wrest him from his homeland only to abandon him now? The answer is that God would not. God will finish whatever it is He starts.
In Genesis 24:7 Abraham says, “The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father’s house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that swear unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee [my servant], and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.”
Let me tell you something. God is not going to forsake you now, at the very moment when you need Him. You can trust God’s promise, you can follow God’s leading, and you can do all these things knowing that God is not going to let you down because God always finishes what it is that He sta
