Revelation 22:21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen

Do you like to skip to the end? Maybe you are watching a long, fourteen-minute YouTube video and you think, “This is so looong!” We have short attention spans, so you skip to the end because you want to see what the end of this video is. If you are a person who actually reads a book, like with paper and words, maybe you like to skip to the last chapter to see what the conclusion of the book is. Sometimes we like to skip to the end to see where that takes us.

Well, the Bible is a massive book and Revelation is a mysterious book, yet you can kind of skip to the end and see where things are headed. In the very last book, the very last chapter, and the very last verse, Revelation 22:21, the Bible says, “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” That is an affirmation. We can skip to the end. I may fear tomorrow and the future. I certainly may fear some of the pictures I see in Revelation, but eternity trumps every future. That is what we fear the most, the future, yet the Bible speaks not only of some distant future, it talks about the eternal future. So, eternity trumps every future and it trumps every fear. So, when all is said and done, and in Revelation everything has been said and everything has been done, there is the grace of God in Jesus.

The Old Testament ends with a curse in Malachi 4:6. In Revelation 22, the New Testament ends with a blessing and the coming of a Person. Verse 20 says, “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” There is coming a day when the Lord Jesus is coming. And do you know what? Grace is what we need. You don’t just need a thing, you need a Person. You don’t need more money, better health, or longer standing. Those things are all good and you can ask for them. But what we fundamentally need is not a thing, it is a Person.

Grace is a thing, but it is the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Here they are really tied together. Grace is a coming Person. It is not a coming thing. And I would say that if this grace is good forever, then certainly it is good for today. It is good for both here and now. Maybe you fear something that is going to or may happen this week, but the eternal grace of God from Heaven is available to you right now, right here on this earth, and it is in a Person. “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.”

I don’t know what will be said or done tomorrow, but I know that God is already there. I know that God does not just hold the future; He is already there. He owns the future. So, you may need a number of things tomorrow and you may not even know all that you will need. But if you have the Lord Jesus, then you have all that you need. When all is said and done, there is the grace of God in Jesus.
