Revelation 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

What’s new? Well, the truth is, probably nothing. Solomon said there is nothing new under the sun. The Bible reminds us in the days of Noah, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day the Flood came and carried them all away. We have been doing the same things throughout the ages. People are people, and there is nothing new under the sun in that sense.
Yet, in Revelation 21 God says, “I make all things new.” That is the very character of God. We are talking about a God who can comprehend a thousand years in a verse. Revelation 20:4 says, “They lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” Revelation 20:2 says, “That old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.” God can comprehend a thousand years in one sentence.
So, the things we conceive of as new or old really hold no significance to a God Who is eternal. In fact, He says in Revelation 21:6, “It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.” Verses 3-4 tell us of the old things that are passed away. “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall me no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” God is a God who makes all things new.
Even the things that help us keep track of time, the sun and the moon, will pass away. The Bible says there is coming a day when we will have no need of the sun or the moon for light because the glory of God will give the light we need. There will be no night.
What I am getting at is that this is true in a singular way for the Lord. He makes all things new. A God Who can reorder the universe as He will, can certainly reorder you.
In Genesis, we find God as the Creator. In Revelation, we find Him as the re-Creator. The fact is, in Christ “old things as passed away; behold, all things are become new.” In Christ you are a new creation, yet on this sin-stained globe that has a day and night, a sun and moon, tears, and death there is a need every day to realize that God is the One Who can reorder our world and recreate our day. As someone has said, “A new day is a fresh start to a wise person.”
I don’t know where you are, but don’t be stuck in a rut living down to your own reputation. Don’t merely settle for something novel when what God wants to do is something new. God is neither stuck in the past nor obsessed with the future. His mercies are fresh, and His faithfulness is infinite. This is the God to Whom we should look for guidance every day of our lives.
