Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Are You a Successful Messenger?

It is easy for a preacher to be so caught up with the message he gives and the notoriety it may bring, that he can become enamored with himself. Sometimes, we think we are the power of the message instead of realizing that the source of the message is also the power of the message. That power is God.

In Revelation 19, there was a messenger, an angel, who gave a fabulous message from God. John was so overcome by the joyous message given by this angel that he fell at the angel’s feet to worship him. The angel said to John in verse 10, “See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and one of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

All of us should be giving the message of God to those around us. It is important to remember that a successful messenger of God is a fellowservant who will refuse worship and reveal the Lord Jesus.

John the Baptist had gained a lot of notoriety, and he had disciples who felt jealous for him because of the growing prominence of the Lord Jesus. In John 3:28, John quieted his disciples by saying, “Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.” John was saying, “My task is simply to be a friend of Jesus. I am to be a voice for the Word, a witness for the Light. I am simply a messenger.” Whether the messenger is an angelic being or just someone who lives on Earth, he needs to make sure that he remembers the power of the message is in the One Who gave the message, not in the messenger who delivers it.

It is God Who has given us a message worth giving. Remember that your success doesn’t come when people applaud you; it comes when you remember that you are a fellowservant who will refuse worship and reveal the Lord Jesus.
