Are you too busy to read this? Are you so busy keeping up that you cannot get ahead? Is it possible to be busy but not productive?
Work is a gift of God! Yet, the benchmark of your day is not how busy you are but how much good you accomplish. Oddly enough, we are sometimes so occupied with busy-ness that we have no passion left to accomplish good.
Paul writes in II Thessalonians 3:10-11 “that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.”
Some people are too busy to get any work done! Strong’s Concordance says that the word “busybodies” means “to work all around, i.e. bustle about (meddle):–be a busybody.” There is a difference between “getting at it” and working all around it!
Being busy is not a virtue; work is. “Busy” speaks merely of energy; “work” speaks of the good to which that energy can be employed. When I am passionate about what needs to be accomplished, I am more apt to “work hard” and not merely act busy.
