I Corinthians 1:9 “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The biggest disappointments in life are usually people, not things. You may be unsatisfied with a purchase you have made-infomercials make things look so good!-but people will be your biggest disappointments. My wife sometimes sends me to Wal-Mart for the simplest thing, but . . . you guessed it, I forget that one thing! Or sometimes I come back with the wrong kind of something.

People can, and often do, disappoint; but “God is faithful.” God will not disappoint. Even when you think God has disappointed you, He does not live out of character-He is faithful. How wonderful those three words are, for God is perfect, knowledgeable, pure, holy, and faithful. I am none of those things! Sometimes I do not know; sometimes I know but don’t care; and other times I know and care, but I don’t have the power to help. But God is faithful.
What is God faithful to do? He gives His grace (verse 4) so that you can have everything you need. Verse 8 tells us that God is faithful to forgive: “Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The word “confirm” means “to guarantee.” Aren’t you glad that God is the One who guarantees you standing before God?!

You are not faithful to be good; but God is faithful to forgive. At salvation, I relied upon Jesus Christ to save me, and He is the One who has to be faithful for me to get to Heaven. God is faithful to forgive and guarantee that I am “blameless” in Christ. This morning is a great time to reflect on and thank God for His faithfulness to forgive. “God is faithful. . . .”
