Micah 7:7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

Look to God and Wait

Are you one of those late shoppers? Every birthday or special season you are shopping for gifts a day late and a dollar short. Maybe that happened to you recently at Christmas. You go to the store, and everything you planned on purchasing is picked over. That is exactly the way Micah felt. He felt as if he were standing in a field a week after harvest. There was nothing left. It was “slim pickings,” so to speak.

Micah was looking around for someone of integrity, someone he could trust. As in Micah’s day, sometimes it seems that in our day honesty has been picked over. Micah said, “The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.” Even among God’s own people Micah only saw dishonesty and lack of integrity.

Verse 5 reaches a climax of desperation where he basically says, “Don’t trust you friends. Don’t have confidence in those who have led you. Don’t speak to your wife or son because you can’t trust anyone.” Now I’m glad to say that as desperate as the day may seem, there are a lot of people in my life that I do trust. But Micah was in a place where he could trust no one. If you find yourself in such a place, what do you do?

Micah 7:7 gives us the answer. Micah says, “Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.”

I will look unto the Lord– When you don’t know who to trust, look to God. People may disappoint you, but God never will because His character is unchanged and undiminished. God is the same God before you as He is before a crowd.

I will wait for the God of my salvation– This God brings salvation. When we feel as if God has disappointed us, we need to wait. Waiting is more than trust. It is patiently trusting God when you don’t know what the outcome will be.

My God will hear me- What will God hear from me? He will hear prayer, need, asking.

So, look to God. Wait for God. Pray to God.

In verse 15 God promises, “Just as I brought you out of Egypt and gave you deliverance, I will do the same again.” God’s character is unchanged and undiminished by the times and trends. When you don’t know who you can trust, look to God and wait.
