Exodus 36:1  “Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded.”

Only God can create something from nothing.  He is the only One that ever has or ever will!  When He spoke this world into existence, He created it out of nothing.  Often we wish we could take nothing and make something, but only God can do that.  I recently helped with a work project at my church, and we had to go to the home improvement store to get something to make something.

What did the children of Israel have to work with in the wilderness?  They had nothing, yet they made an incredible tabernacle!  (They didn’t run down to the local hardware store, either!)  They had natural resources that God had made (trees and rocks); they had gold, silver, and brass that the Egyptians had given them; and they had gifted men like Bezaleel and Aholiab that God had given for the work.

God didn’t give what was needed out of nothing; He gave what was needed through people.  In other words, the resources that made the incredible Old Testament tabernacle were walking next to Moses!  Most of us have little or no knowledge about Bezaleel or Aholiab, but God knew them and called them for a specific work (Exodus 31:2-6).  God gave Bezaleel wisdom, understanding, and skill for building.  Bezaleel never raised a rod or led millions of people across a sea, but God had also called him and equipped him for an important work.

Through men, God provided the skill needed to build, and God provided the supplies through people. The important truth for today is not that God can make something from nothing, or even something from something. The important truth is that God can make something out of someone. That’s exciting because you are a “someone”!  You may not understand how to build an entire tabernacle, but God has given you a part like He did Bezaleel.  You don’t need to worry about the part someone else is given or stress over the project God has given.  God has given you something to give, so be energized about your part!  There is always enough when people give what God provides.  The most valuable resource is not something–it is someone.
