Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

No Cause Without a Creator

The Golden Gate Bridge in California is one of the most beautiful bridges in architecture and design in all of the country. Yet, since its construction in 1937, over 1,600 people have jumped to their deaths from this bridge. Why? Well, if there’s no reason for your existence, then there’s no reason to continue it. At the very best we become wise, educated, rich, and healthy only to die and have it all buried with us. Many people believe that the world created itself. If that’s true, then the world is god, and we have no reason to live. There is no cause without a Creator.

Genesis 2:7 says, “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Life is precious because life is given by God. Life is significant because the life of a human is a life with a soul. The truth is that there is no cause without a Creator.

In Genesis 2, we read about rest, work, marriage, and a number of other things. There is no significance in any of these things if there is no God Who designed them. These things are only significant because God is the One Who gave them to us.

Even good and evil have no context whatsoever if you take them out of the context of the world that God created.  Everything God made was good, and everything was good the way God made it. It is only man’s rebellion and his sin that has cursed this earth.

God made this world and this day, and the only way to clearly see the joys of life and the difference between good and evil is to realize that there is a God Who designed and created this world and Who decides what is right and wrong. C.S. Lewis said, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” The way you see life will be no more clear than your recognition of the God Who created it.

We are to be stewards of both this earth and this day. Don’t divorce the pleasures, pains, and the scope of this day from a God Who is personal, Who cares, and Who knows. God made this world; God made you. God cares, and we are stewards of all that He has given.
