Acts 1:7-8 “And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

What happens when someone has a question for which you do not have an answer? The questions can come from a child, a co-worker, a complete stranger, or even yourself, but questions without answers can keep you up at night! The Bible reminds us in Acts that you do not need to have the answer to every question if you have the power for every day.

In Acts 1, the disciples had some questions for the Lord Jesus. They wanted to know if He would “restore again the kingdom to Israel?” They had questions about the end times and future events, much like people whose curiosity is piqued today. Some people have even made headlines recently by setting dates for God’s judgment and the end of the world. The curiosity and questions people hold about end times haven’t changed much in 2,000 years!

The truth is, the question the disciples asked is one that only God can answer. Isn’t it interesting, then, that the Lord never answered their question? He responded by saying, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons. . . .” The next verse is a familiar one to us, but it comes in response to a question! “But ye shall receive power. . . .” The Lord redirected the course of discussion from what they asked to what they needed.

Anybody can ask a “good” question, but very few people can give a “good” answer. That is why a father, when asked a question to which he doesn’t have the answer, will say, “Son, that’s a good question!” I’ve used that line on several occasions, and it is code for, “I don’t have a good answer.” Today, you might be asked a “good” question and you don’t have a clue as to the answer. Remember that you don’t need the answer to every question if you have the power for every day!

The Person who gives the power for every day is alive. He “shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs.” You need the power that only the living Son of God can provide! When you are asked a difficult Bible question, you don’t need to be a Bible scholar to be a help; you need the power of the risen Christ. He lives, He leads, and He leaves a Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to help you. The Holy Spirit can help you recall the Word of God that you have been hiding in your heart every day. The question is, do you have Acts 1:8 power?
