Zechariah 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

“Never waste a good crisis.” That was the attitude of a U.S. politician in recent history. It makes us wonder whom we can actually trust when the chips are down and times are difficult. Whom do you trust? Do you trust a foreign power? Do you trust domestic leadership? Well, Zechariah is talking about God’s people who had the same questions. Was Israel to trust a foreign power? What about their own leaders?
Zechariah 11:17 says, “Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock!” God is saying that some of His own people, even priests and kings, could not be trusted. So, whom do you trust today? Do you trust foreign powers like China, Russia, or Finland? Do you trust domestic authorities? Whom do you trust?
Well, in the last couple of chapters in the book of Zechariah, one common phrase that you find is “in that day.” God is revealing what will happen in that day. In contrast to foreign conquerors and domestic, duplicitous leaders, God talks about the Messiah. The Messiah would come twice. He would come to be born of a virgin, and then He would come again. Some information about that Messiah is told in the book of Zechariah. But, the bottom line is found in Zechariah 14:9 where it says, “And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.”
There is coming a day when the entire globe will be monotheistic. People will not be worshipping idols any longer. They will recognize the one true God. They will recognize the one true God. God is God now, but it is good for us to know that when every crisis is complete, the Lord will be king over all the earth.
If you know Him, then let the peace of God rule in your heart today. Colossians 3:15 says, “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” So, if you belong to Christ, you are in that “one body” right now. Our focus should be on our gratitude towards Him and our trust in Him.
In short, we need to let God be Who He is in the sense that we let His peace rule in our hearts. Today, I don’t know whom you should trust in every case, foreign, domestic, national, global, or in your own home, but I do know that God is a God that is trustworthy and in control, and we should let His peace rule in our hearts today.
