II Corinthians 12:10b “…for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

Weak or Strong?

I am going to guess that if you have ever met anyone famous, people around you know about it. If you have been to an incredibly awesome location or accomplished something extraordinary, people have heard about that, too. Every remarkable thing I’ve ever done or famous person I’ve met has no doubt been worked into a sermon illustration!

It is very difficult not to let everyone know about every great thing you have seen, heard, or done. That is why I can’t imagine being in Paul’s sandals in II Corinthians 12! He knew the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Imagine testimony time at your church with the Apostle Paul!

Paul would’ve had plenty to brag about, but he was given a thorn in the flesh “to buffet” him so that he would not be “exalted above measure.” His response was this: “Most gladly will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. . . . for when I am weak, then am I strong.” God’s grace was enough for his infirmities, and God’s strength was made complete in his weakness.

You will live in your own weakness as long as you settle for your own strength. God doesn’t want us to live in our weakness or our strength. His grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in weakness. When you recognize your weakness and live in God’s strength, there is nothing that can keep you from God’s very best.

“For when I am weak, then am I strong.”
