Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

The Bible often speaks about direction and destination. Sometimes we can see one and forget the other, but direction and destination are tied together. One is right in front of you, while the other is off in the distance. However, if you are going to end up at the right spot, you have to go in the right direction! The direction you are heading is important because it determines your destination.

Any direction you may go always begins in your heart. Verse 14 says, “A backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways. . . .” The direction you are heading this morning is something that only you and God know. By the time someone else can see the direction you are heading, your heart is already at the destination. The journey to your destination begins in your heart.

Ask yourself this morning, “How am I trending?” Which way is your heart pointing? You will go the direction you are aimed. It is too easy to have a slight bend toward living to the flesh or an attitude that is just slightly out of adjustment. You may think it is just a curiosity or interest, but the Bible goes to great lengths to warn us about taking heed to the direction we are heading.

Direction is important because it leads to a destination. You will end up in the wrong place when time and opportunity are applied to the wrong direction. That is why your attitude, the things you accept, the things you read, the things you watch, the things you listen to, and the things you think about are so vitally important. Let the Bible be your compass for your direction and destination. Where are you heading today?
